House Extension Scaffolding
Extension Scaffolding in Kent & South East London
Safe, compliant access scaffolding for every type of house extension across Kent and South East London.
Scaffolding for house extensions
House extensions are one of the most common reasons homeowners and builders contact us for scaffolding across Kent and South East London. Whether you are building a single-storey rear extension, a two-storey side extension, a wrap-around extension or a loft conversion with a rear dormer, the right scaffolding is essential from the first day of groundwork through to the final roof tile.
All Scaffolding Services Kent Ltd has been providing extension scaffolding across the region for over 34 years. We work directly with homeowners, main contractors, bricklayers, roofers, joiners and groundworkers to ensure the scaffold is in place when it is needed and adapted as the build progresses.
Extension scaffolding is not a one-size-fits-all product. The configuration depends on the type of extension, the height of the existing building, the proximity to boundaries, the access requirements for each trade, and the programme of works. We assess each project individually and provide a scaffold that works for the whole build, not just one phase of it.
Types of extension we scaffold
Rear single-storey extensions
The most common domestic extension type. We provide a rear elevation scaffold that gives bricklayers, roofers and joiners safe working access at eaves and ridge level. The scaffold is typically erected before the existing rear wall is broken out and remains in place until the roof is watertight and external finishes are complete.
Two-storey rear extensions
Two-storey rear extensions require a taller scaffold that provides access at both ground-floor and first-floor eaves level. We configure the scaffold to allow bricklayers to work at both levels simultaneously and to give roofers safe access to the new roof structure.
Side extensions and side returns
Side extensions and side-return infill projects often involve working in confined spaces between the house and the boundary. We have extensive experience of erecting scaffolding in narrow side passages and along boundary walls, including where party wall agreements are in place.
Wrap-around extensions
Wrap-around extensions combine a rear and side extension in a single build. The scaffold needs to cover both elevations and turn the corner. We design the configuration to give continuous working access around the full perimeter of the new structure.
Double-storey and multi-storey extensions
Larger extensions on three-storey properties or where the new structure rises above the existing eaves require a scaffold designed to the full height of the build. We provide the necessary ties, bracing and loading bays for materials at each level.
Garage conversions and over-garage extensions
Converting a garage or building above an existing garage often requires scaffolding to the front or side elevation. We provide access for the structural work, roof construction and external finishes including rendering and cladding.
Trades we support on extension projects
Extension projects involve multiple trades working in sequence and sometimes simultaneously. Our scaffold is designed to support all of them without requiring repeated strip and re-erect.
Bricklayers
Bricklayers need a stable working platform at the correct height for each course. We provide wide boards and adjustable lift heights to keep the working platform within safe reach of the brickwork throughout the build.
Roofers
Once the walls are up, roofers need access to the new roof structure. We adapt the scaffold to provide ridge-level access and eaves-level working platforms for tile laying, felt and batten, and ridge work.
Joiners and carpenters
Joiners working on roof structure, fascia boards, soffits and window installation need safe working access at height. Our scaffold provides the platforms and handrails required for safe joinery work.
Renderers and plasterers
External rendering on a new extension requires a clean, stable working platform close to the wall face. We provide the correct standoff and board configuration for rendering work.
Window and door installers
New windows and doors in the extension walls often need to be installed from the outside. We provide the working platforms and loading bays needed for window and door installation at height.
Domestic extension scaffolding
The majority of our extension scaffolding work is for domestic homeowners extending their homes. We understand that a house extension is a significant investment and that the scaffold needs to be erected, adapted and struck efficiently to keep the build on programme.
