This is footage from an actual scaffolding project we completed in Bexleyheath. The property sits alongside a very narrow and restricted public pavement, leaving limited space between the building and the highway. The scaffold was carefully arranged to provide the access required for the building works while maintaining a practical route for pedestrians using the pavement.

Bridging a restricted pavement

Where a property sits directly alongside a narrow public pavement, the scaffold cannot be erected in a way that prevents people from passing through. The arrangement has to work around the restricted space while allowing the trades to safely carry out the building works above and around the property. On this project, the scaffold incorporates a bridged arrangement over the pavement, allowing the works to continue while maintaining pedestrian access beneath.

Protecting the public below

The scaffold is double boarded in the areas where protection is required, with polythene between the boards to help contain dust and debris and prevent material from falling through onto the pavement below. This provides a protected working arrangement while helping keep the area below safe and usable.
